Bhunjangasana

     

    Bhunjangasana is the unique technique of yoga, exercised in every institute of yoga and all instructors recommends this technique to relax and release fatigue. This is the basic pose of sun salutation or Surva  namaskar, and is practiced by 75 percent of students all over the world. This pose is known as the cobra pose. As bhujang means cobra and asana means posture.

    This technique is perfect for the upper part of the body; it strengthens the shoulders, spine, neck and chest. It is used to make our buttocks strong and in perfect shape. It is easier to release tension and fatigue through proper exercising of lungs and shoulders, which is fulfilled by this technique.The basic technique of Bhujangasana is to lay down on a yoga mat, facing your head in the downward direction, your legs and heels must be touching together, position hands just before the head or next to your shoulder, then inhaling tighten to your buttocks and shoulders, you can have support of your pelvic muscles or the back to keep your body in balance, then raise your body off the ground with the help of your hands and back , keep elbows on the floor and gently raise your elbows of the ground, keep your hands in same position, you should hold this pose for 12 to 14 breathes. After this exhale and release the air in your lungs, return towards the ground as previous, do this 5 to 6 times, you can extend this pose by raising your chin in forward direction and position your neck according to the chin. If somebody has a neck problem, he can extend his head in the same line.

                This technique is very useful to strengthen our back muscles and make perfect posture; it also helps to improve flexibility of spinal cord and nervous tissues. It is also useful to make our kidneys and adrenal glands better; it also gives massage to kidneys and is very useful to patients regarding kidney pains. It stretches the upper part of the body these are, abdomen, chest, shoulders and spine. We can make our blood circulation better by using this technique.
