Konasana

Konasana is the basic technique of yoga, which is practiced in yoga institutes all over the world  . Konasana means the cobbler’s pose or butterfly posture. It means the bound or bent angle poses. This technique is very beneficial for both men and women. It initiates and nourishes sensitive body parts like reproductive organs, thighs and hips. Konasana is unique in sense that all men, women and children can easily practice it, and can get their body posture fit and fine. Konasana is derived from Sanskrit word baddha and kona, kona means pose or angle, and baddha means bent or bound, so it gives the posture like cobbler or butterfly.

This technique is highly beneficial for pregnant women, which produces flexibility in hips and reproductive organs.

The basic technique to do Konasana is to stand straight and legs together, hands must be at both sides of thighs. Now open legs about two to half feet distance and raise both hands in forward direction, so it gets parallel to shoulders. Now bend legs to the right side, and bring slowly right hand downwards and left hand in upward direction. Now bring right hand towards the right ankle, smooth and gently. Now to come back in the original position, slowly lose legs and stand in erect position, so all should be in parallel of shoulders. Distance between legs should be same and will be continued each time. Do this technique repeatedly, by bringing left and right side and vice versa.
