| Padmasana |
Padmasana is the most common and famous technique of yoga. It is practiced almost by all students of yoga. It is supposed to be the simplest and most easy technique in yoga. It is unique in the sense that all people whether men, women and children can practice it in homes, schools and offices under supervision of experienced teacher. Most instructors think that this exercise relaxes and calms body, so it must be practiced regularly. |

This exercise is useful to peoples who sit in front of computers, offices or people who drives car for many hours, it releases fatigue and helps to refresh mind and soul. Padmasana is derived from two Sanskrit words, Padman and asana, padman means lotus and asana means posture. So it collectively means lotus position or posture. It is the simple sitting posture in which person relaxes and soothes his mind and soul. Every person knows this exercise whether related to yoga community or not.
The basic technique to do Padmsasana is, to sit on the yoga mattress straight with spine stretching and in straight sitting posture. Now move your right leg and gently put it on the crease of left leg by folding knees, such that your sole of right foot faces upwards to the ceiling, similarly put your left leg on the right crease of hip and sole of foot faces the upward direction. Then sit and take 4 to 9 breathes to relax your body and mind. If you are the beginner then start with the half lotus technique that is one sided posture of the body.
