Pascimottanasana

     

    This is a unique technique in yoga exercises; this is practiced by almost all students of yoga. Many instructors thinks that this basic technique in yoga and must be practiced by all students of yoga because, it removes and reduces fatigue from the upper part of the body, it also calms the mind and soul. This exercise is considered to be best for office workers, children, house wives and people on difficult jobs.

    Pascimatanasana is derived from two Sanskrit words, Pascima and tana, Pascima means back part of the body and tana means pull or stretch, so collectively it means the stretch at the back region of the body. So this technique is basically stretching of legs and grabbing the toes with the help of hands. The basic technique to do this exercise is to, sit on the yoga mattress, stay relax for a while, then stretch both legs in such a way that they must be straight and in align with the hips joint. Now place your hands on both sides, such that, palms resting on the ground and fingers pointing in the forward direction. Now try to move your body in the forward direction as many as possible by loosening your back muscles. Now place your hands according to where you are comfortable, it should be better to put them on thighs or legs, so they must support whole posture. Now gently move your body in the forward direction and try to touch your big toes of both feet with the help of hands, your forehead must face the knees and forefingers must touch the toes. Now to come back in the original position, loosen up your grip and slowly move back, raise your head upward and start lying on the mattress. Practice this exercise 5 to 10 times, and until your break point is reached.
