For thousands of years yoga has been used for curing and relaxing physical and mental part of the body. Yoga is already well known all over the world, but yet some people are ignorant about some specific nature or conditions of yoga. When and what postures (asanas) should be performed and when some of them are restricted. Here we will mainly focus upon those asanas which are permitted for women during pregnancy. Remember, yoga during pregnancy keeps both mother and child hale and hearty!
Some yoga postures help pregnant women to attain complete peace of mind and body through meditation, behavior, and diet. There are many types of yoga available for pregnant women. Various researches have shown that practice of yoga has wonderful effect on the pregnant women. It helps pregnant women to have a natural childbirth. It also helps the women to reshape the body after pregnancy. Some asanas helps to relieve pain during pregnancy period.
Here are some asanas that pregnant women should do for safe and healthy delivery:
- Butterfly pose (Padmasana) – Sit on the bed/mat with legs stretched straight, hold ankles and then push knees down outwards using elbows. This yoga helps to remove tension from inner thigh area and hips during pregnancy.
- Squats (Utthanasan) – Put your feet three feet apart with both toes facing outwards and both heels facing inwards, then join fingers. Steadily squat by lowering buttock with raising heels, hold down for a few second and then stand up. Continue this process for at least 15 times
Yoga during pregnancy facilitates women to link with her inner self and relaxes her physically and emotionally. It helps the pregnant women to stimulate the whole immune system and also helps the blood to circulate in the normal ways, so that each and every cell of body receives sufficient amount of oxygen. Sometimes pregnant women may suffer from lower back pain, this can be cured by prenatal yoga.
